Copyright & DMCA Policy
How to report copyright infringement, how we handle notices and counter-notices, and our repeat-infringer policy.
1. Designated agent for copyright notices
Notices of claimed infringement under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512) and equivalent laws should be sent to our designated agent:
- Designated agent: [not yet published — the operator will add this under Admin → Legal]
- Address: [not yet published — the operator will add this under Admin → Legal]
- E-mail: [not yet published — the operator will add this under Admin → Legal]
- Registration in the U.S. Copyright Office DMCA Designated Agent Directory: pending.
2. What a complete notice must contain
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
- identification of the material and its location on the Service (URLs) so we can find it;
- your address, telephone number and e-mail address;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
3. What happens next
We review complete notices promptly (normally within two business days), remove or disable access to the material, notify the user who posted it and record the notice. Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)).
4. Counter-notice
If your material was removed by mistake or misidentification you may send a counter-notice to the same agent containing: your signature; identification of the removed material and where it appeared; a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake; your name, address and phone number; and consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, if outside the US, a district where we may be found) and to accept service from the complainant. Unless the complainant files a court action within 10–14 business days, we may restore the material.
5. Repeat infringers
Accounts that repeatedly infringe copyright are terminated. Institutions are informed about notices concerning their students' accounts.
